Responsibilities
The Director of Marketing for an eye healthcare organization is responsible for leading strategic marketing initiatives that drive patient acquisition, brand trust, and service line growth across ophthalmology and optometry offerings. The Director collaborates closely with clinical leadership, operations, and executive teams to expand market share and strengthen the organization’s reputation for excellence in vision care.
- Lead patient acquisition initiatives across digital, traditional, and referral marketing channels.
- Manage brand positioning to establish the organization as a trusted leader in eye healthcare within the community.
- Oversee digital marketing efforts including website optimization, SEO/SEM, paid media, email campaigns, and social media engagement.
- Drive physician referral marketing programs and strengthen relationships with optometrists and primary care providers.
- Analyze patient acquisition metrics, campaign performance, & ROI to guide strategic decisions.
- Manage marketing budgets and allocate resources effectively across service lines and locations.
- Support expansion initiatives such as opening new clinics, launching new services, or entering new geographic markets.
- Supervise marketing team members, agencies, and external vendors.
Expertise
- Strong understanding of healthcare marketing, particularly in ophthalmology and optometry services.
- Knowledge of patient journey mapping and healthcare consumer behavior.
- Expertise in digital marketing strategies specific to healthcare (local SEO, reputation management, online appointment conversions).
- Familiarity with EHR/EMR-integrated marketing tools and healthcare CRM platforms.
- Experience managing multi-location healthcare brands.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret healthcare KPIs (patient acquisition cost, conversion rate, case volume growth).
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with physicians and clinical teams.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (MBA or MHA preferred).
- 8–12+ years of marketing experience, with at least 4–5 years in a leadership role within healthcare.
- Demonstrated success in driving patient growth and increasing service line revenue.
- Experience working in ophthalmology practices, ambulatory surgery centers, hospitals, or multi-specialty clinics is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance standards and advertising regulations.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and cross-functional healthcare teams.
